- How much smaller will my PDF get?
- It depends entirely on the content. Scanned or image-heavy PDFs often shrink by 50–80%. A text-only PDF is already compact and may only lose a few percent.
- Which compression level should I choose?
- Lossless only rewrites the file structure and keeps images untouched. Balanced re-encodes images at around 150 DPI and suits email attachments. Strong goes to about 110 DPI for the smallest file at visibly lower image quality.
- Does compression make text blurry?
- No. Real text is kept as text and stays sharp at any zoom level. Only embedded images are re-encoded, so blurriness can only appear in scanned pages or photos.
- Why did my file barely change or get slightly bigger?
- Some PDFs are already optimized, so there is nothing left to remove. In that case pick a stronger level, or accept that the file is already close to its minimum size.
